Hand-selected by AncientAssets' senior numismatist, the coins display an incredible amount of detail - from her helmeted head to the "Roma" spelled out across the bottom of the denarius. Adding even more interest to the 18k solid gold setting are .10ct pave diamonds. The round, brilliant stones are superb - of G-H color and an inclusion status of SI1.

About this coin

Each Roman city traditionally had a patron god or goddess, and Roma held that honor for the city of Rome. Some believe that she evolved from the goddess Minerva, but whether the two were once tied together, she eventually was worshiped on her own merits. Many of the coins that portray her show images of a war-like goddess, typically with a helmeted head and sometimes driving a chariot. After Rome became a Christian empire, coins featuring the goddess often show Roma seated on a throne. By this time, she had become a symbol for the empire, rather than worshiped as a goddess.
