About this coin
Upon the death of Constantine the Great in 337 A.D., several commemorative coins were issued in his honor. This bronze, displayed to perfection in a 14k gold ring mounting, was minted around 340 A.D. It features the veiled head of Constantine on the obverse with the inscription "DIVO CONSTANTINVS PT AVGG." The reverse includes the emperor, again with a veiled head, seated in a quadriga (four-horse chariot), with the hand of God reaching down to him. It presents a fitting tribute to the first Christian Roman emperor.
