About this coin

As his name suggests, Constantius II was the son of Constantine the Great, ruling jointly with his brothers for a period and then eventually running the Roman Empire on his own. He was a good administrator and ruthless when it came to protecting his power, eliminating anyone who was a threat to the throne. Unlike many Roman rulers, however, he came to a bloodless end, most likely dying of malaria while on a campaign to put down a rebellion by his cousin, Julian. This bronze coin of Constantius II, minted in the Roman Empire, shows his bust in glory, complete with a jeweled diadem (headband) around his head.
