About this coin
With Alexander's death, Maximinus was made Augustus, though the Senate wasn't happy about him taking the reins. As a Thracian, he was considered a barbarian, though no one could argue that he looked the part of a ruler. Physically, he was a tall, strong, imposing figure who could effectively manage warfare. Even with his successes, he faced an uphill battle in terms of acceptance among the people he ruled, and he dealt with revolts from a number of factions throughout his reign. He was ultimately killed by his own troops at the siege of Aquileia.
